Building site  and  Basement

The domes can be placed on a base of reinforced concrete, plinth , wooden posts or big stones. Building in a heavy climate demands fast and easy mounting of the shelter and the outside sealing of the the sections -the walls and roof. All Easy Domes examples have the smooth and very easy assemble with 1/2" iron bolts and ready drilled holes in the edges of the pine timber - the hexagons, pentagons and quadrangles (trapeze).

The basic for mounting of the domes can be made on a 10- edged reinforced plate of concrete, a plinth of concrete, wooden posts constructed for a stable basement, or 10 big stones placed in each corner and  prepared with drilled hole for insert of 3/4" iron bolts.
 
The base is easy to make using the Easy Domes manual with descriptions, drawings and photos illustrating the work.
Notice that ordinary rectangular houses recommend a base with bigger width than dome buildings. The plinth of "The Tuft" is app. 7´ shorter than a rectangular house in same square-feet.
In order to make a plinth in concrete in the exact geometry and size, the sheetings in 1/2" plywood can be enclosed a dome-order. The building of the plinth will be very easy and with the accurate and essential geometry – in order to have a desired high quality work.

The building site on a "Tuft”" must be app. 1000´ to get a reasonable distance to e.g. borders of building site.
Duo-domes, each e.g. 500´ demand a building site app. 200x250´ (500 m2) and are easy to fit to difficult terrain and sun and view orientation.
 
Wall and roof
All domes have the 21pc. plywood and pine building sections. Wall and roof frames/sections are similar with 15mm waterproof plywood on 3x4” or 3x6"  pine timber. The stabilization of the load construction is in common domes  done by triangeling with struts. In the Easy Domes – concept the stabilization is transferred through the plywood plates, where the load and stretch- functions from the top of the building are lead across the edges, and down to the basement. This gives the possibility of simplicity and production of prefabricated sections ready for mounting and coverage with different climate membranes.

The high geometrical performance and excellent work done by jointer makes a proper and easy assambeling. Walls can be covered with timber or different plate structures. The roof can be covered with aluzink, shingel of different kind, as a combined roof-energy solution with solar panels, solar cells or the new triple junction or thin film solar membrane. This membrane can be mounted direct on the roof or on a premade aluzink frame. A total cover with PV- solar cells and solar panels on heating purposes - will produce  the energy needed -  with demands to location and degree of  latitude.

Windows and doors
Windows are delivered by request on all purposes e.g. the panorama section at one pentagon and one trapetze, or a hexagon combined with a pentagon. The possibilities are numerous and offered on request.
All windows and outdoors are made in mahogany with thermo-energy glass. Coverage to building sections is made by 0,7 mm aluminum in a desired color.
Indoors are standard 32” wide and adjusted to fit to e.g the bathroom – as the "Tuft"” is an example of.

Indoor coverage, floor, walls and loft room, fire tube and finish
The partition walls can be delivered by order. The walls are prefabricated with 1/2" plywood coverage on one side and ready for e.g. a nice pine board or other kind of wood on the other side.
Indoor coverage of the frames can be made with plywood, fiber plaster or boards in pine or spruce. 
The floor built depends on the kind of basement: – a reinforced plate in concrete, reinforced plinth of concrete, posts in 4x5” timber, or stones at the corners.
In general a concrete plate needs 2x4” joists with wood boards or a quality 1" plywood ready for cover with 1/4" cork or linoleum/vinyl based materials or parquet flooring.

A loft room extends the possibilities of a practical house and makes a 50´ double bed area in the 250´dome. The 500´ dome built on a 40" plinth gives a two- floor house with two rooms on first floor, each app. 100´.

Other equipment to finish a dome is the fitting to mount the frames, aluminum lists  and air valves for shower- and living room.
A ladder is essential to a loft-room, and a special insulated fire tube fits to the roof-section and is a part of the optional equipment.
Almost any dome builder has a wish of living heat and wood burner – therefore the special fire tube. Wood burners are individual installations and not delivered from Easy Domes Ltd.

Kitchen and bathroom
Easy Domes Ltd. goes further to make it easy for dome builders to furnish the dome. The kitchen installation is offered with laminated sheet, wall-shelfs, drawer section and 3 cup-boards with shelfs. The material is prepared and cut for installation of the sink and pipes.
Even to bathroom Easy Domes offers a shower-basin section covered with linoleum and ready for mounting. A special designed drying rack for shower room is also available.

Energy supply
As the energy supply is essential Easy Domes Ltd. has cooperation with manufacturers of energy technology. Electricity is suggested produced by PV- solar cells and /or Triple Junction (thin-film) membranes. Solar cells are preferred at direct sunlight while thin-film membranes are suggested in areas with less sunlight but heavy daylight. Batteries or grid connected solutions are available.
Heating and hot water can be produced by solar panels at app. 40´ with a reservoir at  50 to 200 liters.
All electrical pumps, lamps – and other installations - are 50Hz  on low-energy 12V and 24V.
Small wind turbines are  good and  effective energy solutions. Heat pumps and ventilators with reuse of heat are necessary to reach passive house solutions. High technology equipment as micro electrolysis, hydrogen and PEM fuel cells are also usable even the cost still is high.

Material finish and colors
All materials can be delivered with an outside finish in a chosen color (aluminum) or a personal paint-color on wood material. Windows and door-frames are in mahogany and treated with linseed oil.
Aluminum frames are dull and available in a wide range of colors.

Dome builders work

The Easy Domes´s concept is to offer a building- kit as ready as possible for the dome builder. Therefore most of the material is prefabricated.
Work being done at site is preparation, digging, sewage, and the basement in concrete, timber posts or stones.
Other works are the installations of sanitary, water, heat and electrical appliance. Equipment is refrigerator, oven, lamps a.s.o. with the finale furniture, table, sofa, chairs a.s.o.

One material not delivered in common is the insulation in stone- glass- or nature- wool or flax materials. The reason is the rather expensive transport as the insulation demands a wide space.
If the insulation even so is recommended – it´s no problem making this included an offer.

Offers on request
Easy Domes Ltd offers a wide range of domes in different size from 160´ (sq.ft.) to a thousand sq.ft. The combine of several domes on family or other purposes are many and make possibilities to create a personal style.
Partition walls can be placed different and other windows can be added. Roof-top windows or skylights are offered with any solution on coating, color and materials.

Drawings, manuals and instructions
To each building - kit are drawings made on your personal wishes and demands at building site together with manuals and all instructions on how to mount and finish the dome. Maintenance will be necessary as years go by, and an instruction on how these works are done is a part of every delivery.

All products and designs comply with tasks, rules and guidance practiced in European countries. EC certificate, ISO, DIN, and DS-standards are fulfilled in the building production, technique and demands on housing interior with a furthermore basic wish on sustainability and environmental friendly construction and wide use of renewable and zero-emission tasks.

Delivery and transportation
All products are delivered on order and by signed contract. A percentage will be paid when contract is made and the rest by arrival at nearest harbor or city, and by finish and guarantee of the house.
Dome- sections (max.250´), floor beams, coverage a.s.o. is all delivered in container.
